A mysterious peace has inhabited the world of Alunia for far too long for anyone to not question it. But for ages, these were only questions of the young and curious. And with time, old age would settle in and the curiosity of the young withered away as they grew comfortable with the eerie peace and learned to accept it. They all knew the fairy tales of the Dark War and the vengeful meteor shower that supposedly tore their world apart just as soon as the last flame of evil was stomped out by our great king's mighty ancestors. They all remember wanting to fill in the gaps in their past with adventurous quests for knowledge and understanding about how their world came to be. But crops must be tended to, shops must be run, and families must survive. All children want nothing more but to be heroes but all men want little more then to provide for and protect their families and livelihood. It seemed as if the past would remain a filled with holes for many years to come. But something is changing in the peaceful world of Alunia. Corruption and greed has gradually taken hold of the most powerful and influential noblemen in the land. Even the closest advisors to King Roland have become dark shadows of their former selves. It seems as though some evil force has awoken from an invigorating slumber. For not only is our world being over run with greed and corruption, but there are terrible rumors running rampant through the population. Rumors of beasts only heard of in the fairy tales of old. Young men and women are leaving their homes in search of the answers to the questions that the elderly have abandoned. Their cause seemed aimless and hopeless until an ancient book whose cover read: Book of Mabia was stumbled upon by an archaeologist in his quest for treasures. The book seemed to be waiting in its tomb until the time was right for it to allow itself to be discovered. When the book was removed and brought to King Roland for inspection, the tomb where it was found fell under a swift and evil curse in the absence of the book. Not a soul has dared to enter the Tomb of Mabia since. The Book of Mabia’s obvious powers have lured the young adventurers to Alunia’s capital city of Freeport to begin their quests. No one knows what fate has in store for them. But the very presence of the Book of Mabia gives renewed hope to the idea that evil is not the only great force at work in this Shattered Earth. |
